Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement:
As with all staff and contract-based team members at Native Earth, the candidate is asked to work to serve the traditional values of Humility, Tolerance, Patience, Courage, Wisdom, Generosity and Strength of Character.

Additional information:
Native Earth Performing Arts, Turtle Island's oldest professional contemporary Indigenous theatre company, seeks an enthusiastic, team-oriented, multi-talented stage manager for an upcoming tour of a one-actor work, Quilchena.

The work is based on the true story of a girl, Monica Jack, who was abducted from her community in 1978. The play debuts in her home community.

The piece travels light, with an all-Indigenous artistic team of three: actor Sera-Lys McArthur, designer Andy Moro and artistic director/playwright/director Tara Beagan. Travel will be by air and automobile.

The appropriate candidate:
*       Is interested in operating a production artfully, almost as a co-performer, in dialogue with the actor and the design.
*       Has experience with and interest in coordinating the facilitation of community-oriented workshops.
*       Along with the entire team, will remain mindful of the sensitive subject matter of the production, and its impact on audiences.
*       Will have an existing relationship with Indigenous peoples and contemporary Indigenous arts, and an understanding that Elders are to be respected as community leaders.

Contract dates span January 27 - March 16th, with the possibility of continuing with the 2014/15 tour of an international scope.

Chi Meegwetch.

Equity members hired will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
