EQUITY BYLAW UPDATES
---------------------------------

Equity's Council encourages all members to be familiar with the bylaws
that govern membership in our Association. Electronic copies of the
current bylaws are always available in the "Document Library" section of
EQUITYONLINE (www.caea.com), and are available in print format upon
request to the Association.

At its meetings of June 22-23, Council approved the following bylaw
changes:

Article 1: has been updated to add a definition of permanent resident
status, and to clarify the definition of withdrawal.

Article 6: the list of membership classes has been updated (see Article
7.1).

Article 7.1: a new membership class (Regular Member - Extended Visa) was
created, to allow long-term non-resident members - quite common in
ballet - to enjoy the full benefit of regular membership while in the
country for an extended period. In addition, the new class will ensure
that artists in Canada on an open work visa, as might be the case of an
immigrant pursuing permanent resident status, will have access to a form
of regular membership. In both cases, this membership class will only
apply if the necessary work visas are in place. Members under this class
can transition to regular membership if they attain permanent resident
status or citizenship.

Article 8(f): was updated to clarify that non-residents do not need to
pay basic dues when their approved engagement is terminated. The
amendment makes no change in practice.

Articles 13, 14, 25, and 97-98: were updated to consolidate and
streamline language around withdrawal, arrears and suspension. Wording
that covered parallel provisions in each area was standardized, and some
editorial changes were made for clarity. These amendments make no
substantive changes. Article 25 was repealed entirely, its contents
having been transferred to Article 13.

Article 15(i): was updated to increase the amount of permit engagement
filing fees that could be applied to the initiation fee, and reflects
the changes made in the initiation fee since the article was written.
