Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement:
Roseneath Theatre seeks to be a reflection of the audience we serve. For this reason, we reach out to artists from different cultural backgrounds.

Roseneath Theatre (ITA TYA) is touring Southern Ontario schools for this contract.
 
3 First Nations characters - Adult actors only. All have a major role & many minor roles. Quick, clean changes (vocally & physically) make all these different characters clear but not clichéd.

Pa - A male actor (30-45) plays a father, a grandfather and other roles. He used to be a champion rodeo rider. Emotional depth & honesty essential.

Jesse - A female actor (19-30) plays a twelve year old, urban youth from the Stoney Nation (Alberta). Her mother died during the birth of her younger sister who she has frequently looked after.

Angelina - A female actor (19-30) plays an 8 year old urban youth from the Stoney Nation (Alberta). Her mother died during her birth. She does not edit her feelings the way her older sister does.

A highly theatrical & imaginative story in which three actors play over 65 characters, accompanied by a live musician. Spirit Horse is a powerful adventure of 2 First Nations city children whose lives are changed forever by the appearance of a Spirit Horse - a gift from their grandfather who lives by the old ways on a prairies reserve.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
