Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement: Red Snow
Collective encourages submissions from performers of all cultural
backgrounds. Red Snow Collective's mandate includes creating theatre
that merges Eastern and Western art forms through storytelling, music
and movement that engages and provokes audiences, cross borders and
challenges the norm.

Additional information:

Red Snow Collective is accepting submissions for performers for two
upcoming development workshops and its 2016 production of the new play,
"comfort", by Diana Tso. The story is inspired by the comfort women in
Asia and the resilience of women in war. Red Snow Collective will be
co-presenting with www.zataomm.org 

1st development phase is March 16 to April 3, 2015 (9 or 10 four-hour
workshops)
2nd development phase is September 2015 (9 or 10 four-hour workshops)
The production will be Fall/Winter 2016

This theatre piece requires performers with strong skills in acting,
movement, singing and improvisation.   Audition requirements are two
contrasting songs from operatic excerpts and/or art songs (maximum 6
minutes in total).  You will be given sides from the play prior to the
audition and will be asked to improvise a movement piece and or vocal
piece.   The ability to speak or sing in Mandarin is an asset but not
mandatory.

We are looking to cast the roles of:

Li Dan Feng (female lead): Li Dan is an Asian woman who, over the course
of the play goes from age 16-24

Xiao Yu (male lead): Xiao Yu is an  Asian man who, over the course of
the play goes from age 19-27

Cormorant

Moon

Mother

Old Widow 

Nabi: a comfort woman

Soldier 

All roles above will also be in the Chorus except for the female lead
and male lead.

workshop and production will be engaged under an ITA Equity contract.

Callbacks will be February 13 and 14, 2015.
