Fitz Happens! A megamusical for Five Actors
By Mark Weatherley
Directed and Choreographed by Liz Gilroy

All actors play multiple parts of either gender...Ideally, each of the
actors can play one or more instruments.

Set in 1899 this is a raucous musical comedy about an irresponsible young
Englishman banished to the Canadian West who finds himself forced to become
the Mountie in a small town on the eve of an invasion by a bunch of
murderous thugs.

Fitz: Male early to mid twenties – Rock Baritone/tenor
Charming, handsome, funny, and loveable, but also devious and larcenous.

Fitzwilliam Sr. / Bearded Bob: Male forties to fifties – Baritone
Fitz’s dad, a scowling and curmudgeonly old reactionary who kicks his son
out of the country.

Whisky Dick: Male, thirties – Rock/Country baritone
Leader of a gang of destructive thugs. He’s not terribly bright, but he’s
not completely stupid either.

Cletis / Whisky Ed: Female twenties to thirties- Alto
Whisky Dick’s second in command, smarter than Whisky Dick but with really
bad hockey hair. Excellent comedic skills.

Louisa: Female twenties – Mezzo Soprano
A buckskinned, sharp shooter who is smart and brave with a very dry sense of
humour.
