FEDERAL ELECTION 2015 - THE RESULTS ARE IN

------------------

A message from Council President Allan Teichman and Executive Director
Arden R. Ryshpan

Dear Equity colleagues:

Yesterday, the Canadian people chose to make a change in our federal
government and that choice was clear. The Liberal Party of Canada was
handed a majority of the seats in the House of Commons.

Equity was heartened to read the Liberal Party plank on arts and culture
[available at
https://www.liberal.ca/files/2015/09/Investing-in-Canadian-culture-and-middle-class-jobs.pdf],
and we sincerely hope that they fulfill their promises to the live
performance community. In particular, they have made some substantial
statements regarding renewed support for the Canada Council and the CBC.

Equity has always worked hard to ensure that it has good relations with
members of all parties and looks forward to working with the new Minister
of Canadian Heritage when he/she is appointed. As always, Equity will
continue to advocate for policies and legislation that best support the
needs of our membership and encourages all aspects of the arts and culture
sector to thrive.

We thank everyone who voted Arts & Culture.
