production.

Additional information:
Nigel Shawn Williams directs the gripping story of an unlikely friendship
between a Canadian soldier and a Palestinian teenager that goes horribly
wrong in this Chalmers Award-winning play by Guillermo Vercecchia and Marcus
Youssef set against the backdrop of Operation Desert Shield.

MERCER (Male) Age 20

Mercer is a private in the Canadian Armed Forces during the deployment of
Operation Desert Shield in the Persian Gulf. Mercer is a guarded and
troubled young man without enough field experience to be either a good
soldier or a bad soldier. He follows orders because that’s what soldiers do.
His father is Assistant Deputy Minister of Defense with responsibility for
UN Peacekeeping Operations.

SADIQ (Male) Age 17 – For this role, we welcome submissions from both men
and women.

Sadiq is a young Palestinian boy who is wise beyond his years. Sadiq has a
slight build and is not a muscular boy. He makes his money selling goods
from his Uncle’s black market to coalition soldiers in and around Doha,
Qatar. He is smart, compassionate, and a sensitive dreamer who knows how to
survive.

We thank all applicants for their submissions, however only successful
applicants will be contacted for an audition.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
