PETER (25-35): idealistic, radical, new father in East Berlin. Suffers
severe psychological torture at the hands of the Stasi. Experience working
on new scripts is an asset.

“Agency”, a new play by Eva Barrie, takes place in 1980s Divided Berlin and
present-day Berlin. In 1986, 3-year-old Hannah and her parents escape to
West Berlin through a tunnel, but her father, Peter, vanishes during the
escape. 26 years later, Hannah accesses her father’s Stasi-file (Stasi:
[colloquial] East German Secret Police). In the files she learns that her
father's best friend, Thomas, was the Stasi-Informant who had been spying on
her father.
Hannah hunts down Thomas and interrogates him in order to uncover the
mystery of her father's disappearance.
Though set in Berlin, “Agency” is a universal meditation on how loneliness
drives human-beings and the walls we build around ourselves.
