EQUITY BYLAW UPDATES - OCTOBER 2016
------------------------------

Equity's Council encourages all members to be familiar with the rules that
govern membership in our Association. Electronic copies of the current
bylaws are always posted for review or download in the "Document Library"
section of EQUITYONLINE (www.caea.com), and are available in print format
upon request to the Association.
------------------------------

At its meeting of October 31, 2016 Council approved the following bylaw
changes:

Articles 1, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 29: clauses in each of
these articles were amended to eliminate the term “permittee” in favour of
more specific references to “engagement permits” and “engagement permit
contracts." Similarly, changes were made to more specifically recognize
“apprentice” and “apprenticeship” in relation to job titles, and not a class
of membership. No substantive changes were made through these various
adjustments to standardize terms.

Article 1(xi): the definition of “permittees” was repealed, as the term no
longer exists elsewhere in Bylaws.

Article 23: this article was amended to include specific language about the
disbursement of filing fees for non-members working on an engagement permit
contract in stage management. This language is identical to the article
governing filing fees for actors, and corrected an omission in Equity's
bylaws.
