Additional information:

Black Theatre Workshop is looking for 4 actors for its Black History Month
school tour of BLUENOSE by Emil Sher, directed by Tamara Brown.

Rehearsals begin on January 16, 2017
The contract ends on February 26, 2017

BLUENOSE, a play for young audiences, is a swashbuckling, comedic tale about
culture clashes and cultural assumptions, set on the deck of the Shark de
Triomphe, a food-stained, foul-looking pirate ship. Ratt, Spatt and Knat are
three red-nosed pirates who guide their cluttered ship wherever the scent of
riches leads them. They pillage and plunder with abandon, fueled by an
insatiable appetite to acquire whatever they fancy, wherever they find it.
Their lives are predictable on the blustering seas until Ku, a confident
blue-nosed pirate, washes up on deck.

CHARACTERS:

Ratt: is the self-proclaimed captain and has a take-charge attitude.

Spatt: is like a cabin-boy who forever aspires to a higher position but
doesn't have the brains to get there.

Knat: is the most thoughtful of the trio.

Ku: masks a stone-hard drive to remain true to her sense of self. Ridiculed
by the other pirates because of her blue nose, she does not wilt in the face
of a barrage of insults. She has her own prejudices and preconceptions,
however is always willing to listen.

For this production, we are seeking performers who are proficient in
movement/clown and dance/singing.

Actors are asked to prepare:
1 monologue, up to 3 minutes max.
1 acappela song, 1-2 minutes max.
A self-created movement/gibberish scene, 1-2 minutes max. about "a day in
the life of a pirate"

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
