Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement: The role for
which we're auditioning is a historical character, of Irish roots.
Nevertheless, the actor's power as an actor and singer is much more
important than ethnicity. All will be considered.

Additional information:

We are casting the lead role in the premiere production of a new musical,
STONECLIFF, based on the story of Michael J. Heney, born in 1864 to Irish
immigrant farmers in the upper Ottawa River Valley, who ran away to work on
the CPR at age 14, built his first railway at the age of 25, and went on to
fame and fortune as the builder of the White Pass and Yukon Railway during
the Klondike Gold Rush. The play covers the years 1876 to 1910, and is
scored for a band of Irish folk instruments.

The actor playing Heney appears in all but two scenes of the play, and sings
two solos and a number of other duets, trios and ensemble songs; thus a very
strong actor and singer is required.

The Equity contract will be for nine weeks, from Sept. 25 to Nov. 26, 2017.
There will be 10 performances in the Ottawa Valley, in four different
locales, and another 10 performances in the Yukon and Alaska, also in four
different locales.

Interested actors are invited to send resumes and head shots by April 14,
2017 to director Conrad Boyce at conradboyce at powergate.ca Phone interviews
will be conducted before candidates are selected to audition.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
