Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement: Essential
Collective Theatre welcomes and encourages submissions from applicants of
all diverse backgrounds.

Additional information:

Essential Collective Theatre will hold general auditions for the 2017/2018
season in St. Catharines on April 25, 2017. ECT welcomes and encourages
submissions from performers of all ages and ethnicities, however please note
that we engage professional actors under the Canadian Actors’ Equity
Association’s Independent Theatre Agreement. Actors selected for auditions
will be considered for the following productions:

The Welland Canal Play

Directed by Monica Dufault

Rehearsals begin September 19, 2017.

Runs at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre October 12-22, 2017.

Niagara Regional Tour (various locations) October 23 – October 29, 2017.

CAST: 6 actors, playing multiple characters

Our Lady of Delicias by David Fancy

Directed by Monica Dufault

Rehearsals begin January 30, 2018

Runs at FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre: February 21 – March 4, 2018

CHARACTERS:

Atlacoya – An Aztec goddess

Rangel – A Mexican migrant worker (30’s) labouring in the fields and
greenhouses of Niagara. Husband to Dolores.

Dolores – A lab technician and pregnant mother (30’s). Wife to Rangel.

Jennifer – A young doctor (mid to late 20’s) serving at the migrant workers’
health clinic in Niagara.

Audition Requirements:

Email a short letter of interest, resume and photo to: projects at ectheatre.ca

Deadline to submit: April 20, 2017.

ECT will contact those applicants selected for an audition.

Please prepare one contemporary Canadian monologue. Optional: a short a
cappella song. You may also be asked to read from one of the plays. Sides
will be available at the audition.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
