Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement: 2b theatre is an
encourages submissions from applicants of diverse backgrounds.

Additional information:
Internationally acclaimed 2b theatre company is seeking actors for the world
premiere of Shauntay Grant's The Bridge in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Storyline: The Bridge is a family drama of buried secrets and people haunted
by the past. The show takes place in 2010 and 1988 in a Black Nova Scotian
community. All characters are African Nova Scotian. All actors should be
able to sing.

About the Company: 2b strives to stimulate the mind and to awaken the spirit
by producing theatre that is vital, innovative and challenging. Based in
Halifax, Nova Scotia, 2b theatre company creates, develops, and presents
works for the regional, national and international stages. Currently in our
17th season, we have built the company from a fledgling student startup into
a key cultural institution in Halifax and an internationally respected
leader on the vanguard of new theatre creation.

About the Playwright: Shauntay Grant served as Halifax's Poet Laureate from
2009 to 2011. She has professional degrees and training in Music, Theatre,
and Creative Writing, and teaches at Dalhousie University. 2b theatre
company is a Halifax based, internationally acclaimed professional producing
and touring company.

Roles:
Reverend Eli    Gender Male     Age range 42 - 55
Attractive and charismatic. Baptist minister. Seduced his brother’s wife.
African Nova Scotian.

Ghost Anna Moses/Young Anna Moses       Gender Female   Age range 25 - 35
Wife of woodcarver John Solomon. Age 30. After having had a breast removed
in an operation, she feels ignored by her husband, and allows herself to be
seduced by his brother, the local Reverend. African Nova Scotian.

Submission instructions: Please submit online using Casting Workbook. If you
do not have a casting workbook account please send your resume and cover
letter to Lauracvingoecram05 at gmail.com.

Audition requirements Please prepare sides that have been uploaded to
casting workbook and a song. The song should be a hymn or spiritual.

Please note that auditions will be taking place on Tuesday August the 8th at
the Streetcar Crowsnest in their studio theatre at 345 Carlaw Ave, Toronto
ON M4M 2T1 from 10am-5pm. Actors who are not able to attend the Toronto
auditions should be prepared to self tape. We will be sending out self tape
requests to actors who we are interested in through Casting Workbook.
Self-tapers can even use the Casting Workbook free self-tape app and record
it on their phone and upload.

Only actors selected for an audition will be contacted.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
