Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement: Driftwood
Theatre is dedicated to reflecting Canada’s rich diversity onstage for
audiences across Ontario. Diverse artists of all backgrounds regardless of
race, orientation, or personal beliefs are encouraged to apply.

Additional information:
Driftwood Theatre invites submissions from female performers for the role of
Brabantio/Montano/Bianca in Othello, by William Shakespeare as part of its
upcoming summer tour.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
All characters below are female and approximately in their mid 40s.

BRABANTIO: parent of Desdemona, a close-minded Canadian senator
MONTANO: a high-ranking member of the Canadian UN Peacekeeping Force on the
island of Cyprus
BIANCA: a courtesan working on the island of Cyprus

Driftwood is looking for actors who possess strong text, movement and
singing skills.

Contract runs June 19 – August 13, 2017.

William Shakespeare’s blistering tale of race, jealousy and revenge is set
against the backdrop of Canadian history, when in 1974 Canadian soldiers are
caught in a life or death struggle on the small island of Cyprus.

This will be an ensemble production featuring six (6) performers. All other
roles have been cast.

Please express interest and submit photos & resume in pdf format to
auditions at driftwoodtheatre.com. Please list any singing/physical theatre
abilities and/or musical instruments you play.

Both CAEA members and non-CAEA members will be considered. Electronic
submissions only. Only those selected for an audition will be contacted.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
