City Theatre explicitly seeks to stage work that is inclusive. We encourage
submissions from actors of all ethnicities and genders and sexual

Additional information:
Dauntless City Theatre is auditioning for our production of The Two
Gentlewomen of Verona, by William Shakespeare. The show will be immersively
staged outdoors in Toronto’s Berczy Park, with most rehearsals held offsite.
A detailed casting breakdown can be found at
dauntlesscitytheatre.com/upcoming/auditions

Auditions will be held on May 23 and 24, with possible callbacks on May 26,
at an accessible. Please submit a headshot and resume with a cover letter
stating your interest to dauntlesscitytheatre at gmail.com with the subject
“TWO GENTLEWOMEN AUDITION- [FIRST NAME] [LAST NAME]”. We thank all
applicants for their time, but due to the volume of submissions only those
selected for an audition will be contacted.

A note on the script: To center the play’s story of friendship and loyalty,
the text is undergoing heavy editing to remove elements of misogyny and rape
culture. The ending in particular will be rebuilt using text from elsewhere
in Shakespeare’s works to hold the narrative accountable to current
standards of basic human decency.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
