Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement: Nightswimming is
committed to creating work by Indigenous people, people of colour, and
emerging artists through the commissions (and commitments) we make, by
mentoring emerging artists through partnerships and internships with arts
organizations and educational institutions, and by inviting post-secondary
students into our play creation process.

Additional information:
In Broken Tailbone, celebrated writer and performer Carmen Aguirre leads a
public Latin American dance lesson, woven with stories of her experiences in
the hidden world of Latinx dance halls in Canada. DJ Don Pedro creates an
irresistible musical environment to get even the most reluctant dancer up on
her feet! Carmen’s performance consists of an extended salsa dance lesson
that flows into her remarkable stories of intimacy, South and Central
American politics, Latinx culture, and the forgotten origins of the salsa.

Nightswimming seeks a Stage Manager based in the Vancouver/Lower Mainland
area who is interested and has experience stage managing devised
dance/theatre and non-scripted work. The Stage Manager must be willing to
tour. Broken Tailbone will be presented in Edmonton and Vancouver between
Feb 2 to Feb 24, 2018. Details for exact dates can be shared upon request.
As Broken Tailbone is performed in both Spanish and English, it is a
significant asset if the applicant is bilingual in both languages but it is
not required. Applicants who identify as Latino/a/x are strongly encouraged
to apply.

Equity members hired will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
