and staff. As real estate changes hand and new people come in,
connections to greenspaces and parks is often lost. We’ve
used portable signs that we put on regular dump sites, and finding
neighbourhood ‘champions’ to watch out for it also helps.
Our parks are surrounded by residential neighbourhoods, and we can often track
the waste by following tracks or paths to backyards. We have no formal
program or awarenesss materials to distribute, but talking to the residents and
letting them know that we’ll be watching usually puts an end to it.

greenbelt dumping. Every time I visit a rustic park or natural greenbelt in the
city, I find heaps of yard waste, debris, old fence remnants and general yuck!
We do have a bylaw in place to protect our green spaces, however enforcement is
a challenge with limited staff and “bigger” issues. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
