forest }, if the urban trees were groomed for higher value stems , not only
would they be stronger and provide their services longer , but they would
be an asset instead of a liability. { a large , gnarly tree around here costs
thousands to remove in an urban setting. { and yields little but firewood ,
compost and biomass}. In comparison , a fairly clear, hardwood or softwood ,
custom cut for a specific processor , can be worth thousands. Now , if that
processor operates in a “green” fashion , with “waste” converted to fuel , one
has a “cradle to cradle” , sustainable, local industry. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
