the plaques are sometimes covered in mulch, and may sometimes appear untidy. The locations are ultimately selected by city staff, who have a familiarity with the area(so as to avoid/reduce the vandalism/theft issues). If the plaques are vandalised or stolen
we(City of Brampton) are replacing them. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D;mso-fareast-language:EN-US">When instillation efforts were modified and fortified the issue was reduced to a tolerable level. The metal cannot be legally recycled
also reducing potential for theft. (They would have to be melted down first.) <o:p>

plaques except at the cemetery. The issue is damage and replacement costs of plaques.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">In Kelowna, we allow citizens to donate trees for planting in parks, but we don’t allow them to have a plaque except at the Cemetery. There’s a few reasons for this, such as maintenance concerns and vandalism. We had
a bad experience 15 years ago where some trees with plaques seemed to be a magnet for vandalism, so we stopped offering this.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
