<p class="MsoNormal">The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority invites applications for the full-time permanent position of Forestry Technician to fill a vacancy. The position is responsible for recommending and implementing approved forest management activities
on Authority properties and private lands. The individual will report to the Coordinator, Forestry.

<p class="MsoNormal">Responsibilities: <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Conducts forest resource inventory field work and compiles results into operating plans and management plans.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Coordinates and maintains a forest property database including the verification of property tax assessment values.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Creates and implements silvicultural prescriptions for forest operations on authority lands.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Coordinates and supervises forest harvest operations on authority lands and private lands as required.

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Creates work schedule. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Plants and supervises the planting of landscape and seedling stock.

<p class="MsoNormal">• Provides landowner service with regard to the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Undertakes the technical aspects of assisting in the delivery and promotion of the Forestry Program.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Provides forestry expertise to other Authority departments as required.

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Undertakes performance evaluations of staff under his/her supervision.

<p class="MsoNormal">• Responsible to work safely in compliance with all SVCA Health & Safety Policies.

<p class="MsoNormal">• Diploma in Forestry <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">• At least two years of field experience as a Forestry Technician
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Associate Professional Forester status with the Ontario Professional Foresters Association would be an asset
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Ontario Tree Marking Certification <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Licensed Pesticide Exterminator <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• A sound knowledge of forest management practices <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Excellent written and oral communication skills <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">• A working knowledge of word processing and computerized mapping programs

<p class="MsoNormal">• Managed Forest Tax Incentive Plan Approver status <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">• Must be able to undertake field work as required under varying terrains and weather conditions
