Windsor plants 1,000-1,200 caliper trees as street trees and park trees annually. Usually split evenly spring and fall. Additional trees are planted during construction projects (unknown total number) and during community environmental events (5,000 seedlings).
We focus on the newest, completed, sub-divisions followed by road rehabilitation projects and then in-fill requests. We also promote a commemorative tree program (~40 trees per year).</p>

Planting along the street right-of-way is carried out under contract to the City. We do not sell trees to the home owners. In some cases, with approval, home owners may plant their own tree on the right-of-way but this does then become a City Tree. We do take
public requests for planting but can not guarantee a specific species to a specific location. The City looks after watering for 2 years and all future tending requirements.</p>

Prior to planting season we delivered a brief letter to residents informing them that a tree is to be planted in front of their home. A small number of residents usually call to decline the tree planting (~3%).</p>
<p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt; line-height: 107%; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif">
New this year, 2019, we created a lawn sign to indicate where a new tree was to be planted and to provide contact information. The sign has been useful in assisting the utility locate process. We also created and posted a 2 minute facebook video highlighting
the new sign and the up coming planting season. This is our first active promotion of the annual tree planting programs in some time. We do not have final numbers but there has been a noted increase in requests for tree planting.</p>

Do you offer a rebate for planted trees?<br>
Do you sell trees directly to the residents? If so, are these trees planted and monitored by municipal staff?<br>
