A subterranean "ice wall" around the crippled plant meant to stop groundwater from becoming contaminated has yet to be finished. And authorities still don’t how to dispose of highly radioactive water stored in an ever mounting number of tanks around the site, to say nothing of the radioactive debris collected from the decontamination process.

A similar amount is to be spent on the Bruce Nuclear station near Kincardine on the shores of Lake Huron. But nuclear power is dangerous, uncertain and very expensive.
