The World
☢ The Hoax That Nuclear Power Is Green 28 min. video filmed at a New York City conference organized by the Radiation and Public Health Project.

☢ Nuclear Courtship 2 part series by APTN (Aboriginal People’s Television Network) about Canada’s search for nuclear waste burial sites on indigenous lands on the Bruce Pennisula and Ignace, both in Ontario.

☢ Ontario Radioactive Waste Dump Rejected by Saugeen Ojibway Nation – Dr. Gordon Edwards OPG’s proposed radioactive waste dump on the shores of Lake Huron was resoundingly rejected in a vote by members of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, on whose land the proposed deep geological repository was to be sited.

☢ Nuclear ice cream is not how this Ontario dessert maker wants to be known Chapman's Ice Cream says proposal to bury nuclear waste in the Great Lakes basin is 'shortsighted'. Others protested outside Bruce County Council chambers: 'Nuclear tanks, no thanks'

☢ The World Nuclear Waste Report 2019 Focus Europe The final disposal of nuclear waste poses major challenges to governments worldwide. No country has a final disposal site for nuclear waste in operation yet. This first report focuses on Europe and prevents the latest facts and figures on nuclear waste and its challenges.

Ontario
☢ Under Doug Ford, Ontarians can expect electricity emissions to triple by 2030 Carbon emissions from Ontario’s electricity sector are set to triple over the next decade, as gas-fired generation fills the void created by high-cost nuclear rebuilds and the dismantling of green energy and conservation programs under Doug Ford’s government. But we don't have to blow our climate commitments through the roof - instead of turning to fracked gas from Pennsylvania, we can buy Quebec water power, and invest in energy efficiency and cost-effective Made-in-Ontario green energy.

☢ False nuclear alert took 108 minutes to rectify The investigation revealed procedural gaps, lack of training, lack of familiarity with the Alert Ready system, and communication failures.

☢ The future of the Pickering Nuclear Station The Pickering Nuclear Station will soon reach the end of its life. Some are saying it should be dismantled when it closes in 2024. 3 min. City News clip

Renewables and Conservation
☼ Energy conservation needs to take centre stage in Ontario Energy-efficiency improvements could reduce the need to run natural gas-fired generation, and allow for an earlier retirement of the Pickering plant. Unfortunately, Ontario has abandoned energy efficiency as an element of its energy and climate change plans. For a government committed to lowering rates, this makes no economic sense as energy-efficiency is the lowest-risk and lowest-cost way to keep the lights on.

☼ Roll-out of Europe's Super Grid The European Union is creating a super grid to share renewable electricity with the goal of 100% renewable power by 2050 – Ontario and Quebec can too! 10 min. video

☼ The Key to New York’s Green Dreams May Be Turning Quebec Into a Mega-Battery NY dreams of accessing QC’s massive surplus hydro power reserves, but it doesn’t have the transmission capacity to import it. Ontario has the capacity to import massive amounts of QC’s low-cost renewable power but is turning its nose up in favour of gas and nuclear. More here: Quebec hydro reservoirs provide valuable energy storage for U.S. northeast
