Every year, government spending on health care increases more than revenues. As a result the amount available for other government spending decreases. If current trends prevail, health care expenditures would make up 80 per cent of total program spending by 2030, up from 46 per cent today. All other programs, such as education, would be funded out of the remaining 20 per cent. This is not feasible. Much of this expenditure increase is attributed to an aging population with greater demands on the health care system. Dr. Ernie Lightman, an economics professor at UofT will discuss why we need to care about elder care and how we can make sure that our health care system is sustainable in the future.</span><br><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;"><a href="http://www.whyshouldicare.ca">www.whyshouldicare.ca</a></span><br><br></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="'Times New Roman'"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">---------------------------------------<br>---------------------------------------</span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="'Times New Roman'"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;"><br></span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="'Times New Roman'"><font class="Apple-style-span" size="5" color="#0077e0"><b>Laugh Therapy Improv, SUMMER DROP-INS<br></b></font><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">Mondays Aug 19, 26 @ 6 pm – 8:30 pm</span><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">The Centre for Social Innovation - Annex, Fringe Creation Lab [4th floor], 720 Bathurst</span><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">$20</span><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;"> </span><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">A class that focuses less on ‘games’ and more on professional & personal growth. The action, which lasted nearly a week, was both a response to Enbridge's careless disregard for our lives with it's despicable track record of oil spills, and an act of solidarity with the communities most affected by Tar Sands developments. Mercury poisoning has left its terrible mark on three generations of Anishinaabe people – loss of balance, tremors, loss of vision, numbness, cerebral palsy, and more. Last summer Wynne promised to do something about this tragedy. Over a year later there has been no improvement in the lives of Grassy Narrows people, only talk. Instead of helping the Province continues to plan for more clearcut logging in Grassy Narrows' watershed – a practice that further increases mercury poison levels in local fish. No more delays, we need action now.</span><br><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;"><a href="http://FreeGrassy.net">FreeGrassy.net</a></span><br></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="'Times New Roman'"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;"><a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/191513304356262/191514031022856/">https://www.facebook.com/events/191513304356262/191514031022856/</a><br><br></span></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="'Times New Roman'"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">---------------------------------------</span><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">---------------------------------------</span><br><br><font class="Apple-style-span" size="5" color="#1265d4"><b>Pedestrian Sunday in Kensington Market<br></b></font><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">Community - Culture - Ecology</span><br><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">Sun.
