According to Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), the greenhouse gas pollution from Ontario’s gas plants will increase by 8.2 mega tonnes by 2025. This is double the forecast annual greenhouse gas pollution from Teck’s proposed Frontier tar sands mine. This will mean a 400% increase in greenhouse gases from OPG's gas-fired generating plants and blow our climate commitments out of the water. We can prevent this from happening by investing in energy efficiency, buying Quebec power and phasing-out our gas plants by 2030.
