There is a perception that the “rest of the world” is moving at a dizzying speed in incorporating technology and social media in business and personal lives, but that, perhaps, the social service sector could be doing more to keep pace. But we cannot forget that we are in the “people business” – technology should also be considered specifically for its potential to assist in delivering social services to citizens. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US style='font-size:8.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>In Ontario, anticipated reports such as those from the Drummond and the Social Assistance Review commission are taking discussions towards the need for innovations and changes in processes and policies. While the conclusion of these reports is not determined, the discussion they will generate is one that will contribute to the ongoing transformation – both technological and otherwise - of the social services landscape.
