<p><span>About Ottawa Street Soccer:  The goal of this grassroots program is to use sport as a form of social inclusion.  </span><span>Its aim is to engage and connect with marginalized shelter users and individuals that have been isolated and are on the fringes, using the positive power of sport to enrich and empower.</span><span>  Participating in sport has been proven to help empower individuals and allows them to (re)gain a sense of community and contribution that is often lost within this part of society. By bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds in a space such as a soccer pitch, Ottawa Street Soccer seeks to create and reinforce positive life skills and relationships that can then be reflected and demonstrated both on and off the field. The team allows for public engagement as well as an opportunity to increase public awareness, and a more positive image about homelessness.</span></p>
