<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" ><tr><td valign="top" style="font: inherit;"><DIV>Hi folks,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Many of you will be aware that the Canada Lands Corporation, which owns the former base near the Aviation Museum, is gearing up again to start developing it.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>They are looking for community input as they are getting ready to do their planning and are holding an Ideas Fair at the Museum on Monday, November 26th from 3 to 9 pm with presentations at 4 and 7 pm. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>There is an important addition to the original notice that you may have already seen. The Museum is inaccessible by transit and, when this was brought to their attention, they arranged for a shuttle bus to run from the main door of the Montfort Hospital to the Fair and back between 3 and 9:30 pm (you're welcome!). Could you please let people know about it since I had several questions from folks who wouldn't have been able to get there otherwise.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I met with the Director of Real Estate for the project this afternoon and he said that they are really at the beginning of the process and very few decisions have been made. They will be looking at pulling together some folks from the housing community in the New Year to bring that group into the process. He has made some connections with the City and was already aware of the need to develop a 10-year housing plan for the province. He's also talking with them about transit and other transportation issues as well as the traditional developer/city planning discussions.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The expectation is for a phased development over 15 to 20 years with a broad range of housing and workplace options that will be integrated along with open space. They do intend to preserve some of the existing forested areas, particularly along the escarpment.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Please try and get to the Ideas Fair on Monday - this is a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor before the chisel comes out to engrave the plans in stone. We often bemoan the fact that the community doesn't get much of a chance to influence development plans early enough to be able to make much difference. This is a chance to turn that around.</DIV>
