<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">On October 1, 2013, The Honourable Alice Wong, Minister of State (Seniors), announced a call for proposals to fund approximately 20 New Horizons for Seniors Program pilot projects totalling
total $2 million and aimed at addressing seniors’ social isolation. Funding proposals can be submitted starting October 3, 2013. The call for proposals will close on November 13, 2013.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">These pilot projects will be eligible to receive between $50,000 and $100,000 in federal funding over a maximum of 24 months, which will be matched with funding from other sources. The New Horizons
for Seniors Program (NHSP) pilot projects will also pursue intergenerational learning projects that help seniors develop new interests and share their knowledge and experience with others.
</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">The New Horizons for Seniors Program is a federal grants and contributions program that supports projects led or inspired by seniors who make a difference in the lives of others and their communities.
Projects must address one or more of the five program objectives:</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Symbol">·</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New""> </span>
<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">promoting volunteerism among seniors and other generations;</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Symbol">·</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New""> </span>
<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">engaging seniors in the community through the mentoring of others;</span><o:p></o:p></p>

<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">expanding awareness of elder abuse, including financial abuse;</span><o:p></o:p></p>

d’autres sources. Les projets pilotes du programme Nouveaux Horizons pour les aînés feront aussi la promotion de projets d’apprentissage intergénérationnel qui aideront les aînés à découvrir de nouveaux champs d’intérêt et à transmettre leurs connaissances
