la stratégie canadienne de lutte contre l’itinérance</span></a><span lang="FR-CA" style="line-height:106%">, il est essentiel d’établir des liens significatifs entre les organisations locales autochtones et non autochtones pour répondre à la surreprésentation
des Autochtones parmi les personnes en situation d’itinérance. À cette fin, l’entité communautaire (EC) sous le volet Communautés désignées (CD) à St. John’s à Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador,
</span><a href="https://wecanendit.com/"><span lang="FR-CA" style="line-height:106%">End Homelessness St. John’s (EHSJ)</span></a><span class="MsoHyperlink"><span style="line-height:106%">
</span></span><span lang="FR-CA">(en anglais seulement)</span><span lang="FR-CA" style="line-height:106%">, a mis en place un certain nombre de mesures pour s’assurer que les priorités des personnes Autochtones soient reflétées dans les activités locales.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="FR-CA" style="line-height:106%">L’EC s’est assurée qu’il y ait des représentants autochtones au sein du Conseil consultatif communautaire ainsi que d’autres dirigeants qui possèdent de l’expérience de travail au sein des communautés
autochtones. Ces efforts englobent également une collaboration réussie avec </span>
<a href="https://firstlightnl.ca/"><span lang="FR-CA" style="line-height:106%">First Light</span></a><span lang="FR-CA"> (en anglais seulement)</span><span lang="FR-CA" style="line-height:106%">, un centre d’amitié autochtone local.
</span><span lang="FR-CA">Les deux organismes</span><span lang="FR-CA" style="line-height:106%"> collaborent plus spécifiquement dans le contexte de la formation et de l’éducation sur la diversité culturelle autochtone dans le but de soutenir le personnel qui
offre des services en itinérance, notamment en matière de logement. Il s’agit d’un effort conjoint avec la Ville de St John’s et vise à s’assurer que le personnel qui offre des services en itinérance possède les formations et les appuis appropriés pour travailler
avec les populations autochtones.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="FR-CA" style="line-height:106%">L’EC continue de travailler avec la communauté en général et avec ses partenaires provinciaux dans le but de cerner les tendances et les besoins des personnes en situation d’itinérance ou à risque
de le devenir. Ces tendances comprennent la détermination des besoins et des ressources autochtones, notamment la mise en œuvre d’un programme conjoint de réduction des méfaits pour les refuges en partenariat avec

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="FR-CA" style="line-height:106%">Éventuellement, EHSJ établira un conseil portant sur les expériences vécues. Ce conseil regroupera

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="FR-CA" style="line-height:106%">Le 18 octobre 2021, le gouvernement du Québec a publié son nouveau plan d'action interministériel en itinérance 2021-2026, intitulé

grands thèmes, soit la prévention, l'accompagnement et l'intersectorialité et prévoit la mise en œuvre de 14 actions structurantes et 31 moyens qui seront déployés pour prévenir et réduire l’itinérance. Le gouvernement du Québec investira près de 280 millions
$ sur cinq ans pour la mise en œuvre de ce plan. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

meaningful collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations is necessary to address the overrepresentation of Indigenous peoples among those experiencing homelessness. To that end, the Community Entity (CE) in St. John’s in Newfoundland and
Labrador, under the Designated Communities (DC) funding stream, </span><a href="https://wecanendit.com/"><span style="line-height:106%">End Homelessness St. John’s (EHSJ)</span></a><span style="line-height:106%">, has taken a number of steps to move towards
ensuring that Indigenous priorities are reflected in local activities. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="line-height:106%">The CE has ensured that there is Indigenous representation on their Community Advisory Board, as well as other leaders who have experience working within Indigenous communities. These efforts also include
successful collaboration with </span><a href="https://firstlightnl.ca/"><span style="line-height:106%">First Light</span></a><span style="line-height:106%">, a local Indigenous Friendship Centre. The two organizations work together more specifically in the
context of the delivery of Indigenous Diversity and Cultural training and education to support the community’s housing and homeless-serving staff. This is a joint effort with the City of St. John’s to ensure all housing and homeless-serving staff have appropriate
training and supports to work with Indigenous populations.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="line-height:106%">The CE continues to work with the broader community and provincial partners to identify trends and needs for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness. These trends include identifying Indigenous needs
and resources, including the implementation of a co-designed Harm Reduction program for shelters in partnership with
</span><a href="https://www.easternhealth.ca/"><span style="line-height:106%">Eastern Health</span></a><span style="line-height:106%">.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="line-height:106%">Moving forward, EHSJ will be establishing a Lived Experience Council. This council will be
</span><span class="jsgrdq"><span style="line-height:106%;color:black">composed of people with lived and living experience of homelessness who are willing to meet and share their perspectives to inform the work of EHSJ</span><span style="color:black">.</span></span><span style="line-height:106%;color:black">

homelessness. The government of Quebec will invest nearly $280 million over five years for the implementation of this plan.
