<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Join us in the central gallery for an intimate solo dance performance by exhibiting artist Andrea Nann, choreographed by Sarah Chase.
<i>A Crazy Kind of Hope</i> combines beautifully articulate, hypnotic movement patterns with stories of hope and heartbreak. The performance emerges from the unique dance-storytelling technique created by Nann’s longtime collaborator, Sarah Chase. For many
years choreographer Sarah Chase has worked with Andrea Nann through a choreographic process using sequences of gestures that draw out autobiography, memoir and storytelling. Through this process, Chase draws out Nann’s rich inner world and magnifies the gestures
that belong to her in an expressive language. In the performance, Nann introduces gestural patterns that begin to intersect and harmonize, creating a heightened poetic landscape, so that Nann’s own spoken stories unfold.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Join us on Sunday, July 19 for a Body and Breath in Landscape: Movement Workshop with Andrea Nann and Sarah Chase. This is a 90-minute movement workshop. Beginning with gently guided exercises that bring awareness
to the senses, body, and breath, participants will explore how gestures and movement patterns can carry memory and emotion, and how these movements can tell personal stories. This workshop is for folks aged 15+, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, and will require
a registering on the gallery website, kag.bc.ca/studio.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="DA" style="font-size:11.0pt">Andrea Nann </span>
<span style="font-size:11.0pt">is a contemporary dance artist, arts educator, founding artistic director of Dreamwalker Dance Company, and founder/co-creator of Conscious Bodies Methodology, an embodied community practice. She has developed a multidisciplinary
practice that intersects with performing arts, media </span><span lang="DE" style="font-size:11.0pt">art</span><span style="font-size:11.0pt">s</span><span lang="DE" style="font-size:11.0pt">,
</span><span style="font-size:11.0pt">spoken word, and community engagement, and is rooted in core values of collaboration, inclusiveness,
<a name="_Int_Uh5rXbRC">synchrony</a> and equanimity.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Sarah Chase is based on Hornby Island, in the Salish Sea. She is a performer and choreographer whose distinctive signature has garnered her an international reputation. Her work has been presented across Canada
and Europe. Chase has also performed and toured with Benôit Lachambre’s Dance par B. Lieux, and German choreographer Raimund Hoghe, and created work for many Canadian artists including Toronto Dance Theatre, Peggy Baker Dance Projects, Dreamwalker Dance Company,
Heidi Strauss and Darryl Tracy, Theatre Replacement, Jacinte Armstrong, Robin Poitras and Ron Stewart, Antonija Livingstone, Montreal Danse, Mascall Dance and Marc Boivin.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
