pleased to present <i>Notions of Gathering</i>, a thoughtful exhibition by
artists Amber Powell and Cassia Powell. Through drawing, textiles, collage, and
installation, this co-created mother-daughter exhibition explores the relationships we
form with objects, memories, and one another, inviting visitors to consider
gathering as both an act of collecting and a way of creating connection.</span></p>

<p style="margin:2.9pt 19.85pt 0.0001pt 0cm;line-height:98%;font-size:35pt;font-family:Georgia,serif"><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:98%">Lake Country Art Gallery is delighted to present <i>Notions of Gathering</i>,
a duo, mother-daughter exhibition by artists Cassia and Amber Powell composed
of mixed-media drawings, textiles, installation and collage. Drawing on
storytelling, personal and spiritual folklore, this exhibition looks at
gathered material as something one can develop a kinship with, and explores
what it means to produce and what it means to inherit and gather objects over
time.</span></p>
<p style="margin:2.9pt 19.85pt 0.0001pt 0cm;line-height:98%;font-size:35pt;font-family:Georgia,serif"><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:98%">Within the core of this show, visitors will discover an unpacking of the
understandings of traditional nuclear family dynamics, negating the standard
for what kinship can mean. Looking at gathering as an act of collecting, but
also as a means of coming together.</span></p>

<p style="margin:2.9pt 19.85pt 0.0001pt 0cm;line-height:98%;font-size:35pt;font-family:Georgia,serif"><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:98%">Amber Powell graduated from the University of Victoria in 1991 with a
BFA, focusing on printmaking, and went on to specialize in professional
collections management. Cassia Powell also graduated with a BFA from the
University of Victoria in 2020, focusing on extended painting and installation.
Cassia is currently an MFA Candidate at University of British Columbia.</span></p>
