CCPA Inequality Research Project
Title: Project Director

The successful candidate will be the driving creative and managerial force
behind this ambitious new project of the Canadian Centre for Policy
Alternatives. The project involves both research and communications. The
project's broad goals are:

*	To foster greater understanding among Canadians of the importance of
equality as a fundamental value in a civilized democratic society.
*	To increase public awareness of the state of income and wealth
inequality in Canada--its causes and consequences; and increase public
support for, and promote measures that would reduce inequality.
*	To humanize issues of wealth and poverty in a way that brings the
reality of inequality home to people and makes it relevant to their own
lives.

We are searching for an individual with background in both research and
communications. The successful candidate will have most of the following
qualities and experience.

*	Outstanding research, writing and communications skills.
*	A deep understanding of inequality and related social justice
issues.
*	An extensive understanding of policy research and how to communicate
it in compelling ways.
*	A thorough knowledge of and experience with conventional media
(print and broadcast) and new (internet-based) media.
*	A demonstrated ability to conceptualize and direct major research/
communications projects.
*	An understanding of social justice-oriented civil society
organizations.
*	An understanding of the CCPA and the role that it plays in the
public policy arena.
*	A proven ability to work collaboratively with, and coordinate the
activities of researchers, academics, activists, staff colleagues and
others.
*	A unique combination of vision, skills and experience, drive and
commitment that is critical to realizing the goals of this project.

Language: English. (Ability to communicate effectively in French an asset.)

Term: This is a two-year appointment, beginning in April, with renewal
conditional on performance and continued funding.

Application Deadline: March 7, 2006
