ORGANIC FARMING INTERNSHIPS

We are a busy small farm looking for 3 full season interns for 2012!

A great opportunity to LEARN and MEET PEOPLE! Ours is a fun, full day approach to farming with time off for swimming, socializing, eating well, exploring and touring; meeting other interns close by. Season runs April to November.

Horse and Garden is a 70 acre Certified Organic Farm producing vegetables and small fruit. Almost 2 acres are devoted to market gardens, half an acre to raspberry u-pick, and a 1 acre dyke field for squash.

With a 70 person CSA, weekly farmers Market and restaurant clients in both Windsor and Halifax (45 min. away) things move quickly all week long!

Opportunities exist to learn by doing & through workshops, farm visits & speaker visits. We are a 'young' farm and interns will both grow and learn along with staff.

Interns participate in all aspects of production, planning, planting, crop rotation, pest & weed management, equipment maintenance & use, and marketing.
In exchange for their labour, interns are offered accommodation and meals as well as hands-on-practical and traditional learning. Social outings are arranged.

Please come with specific learning goals! We will try to help you realize them.

Qualifications and Skills
- Enthusiasm, strong work ethic, and leadership skills; basic life skills
- Able to work both independently and in groups; Physically fit and willing
- A commitment to a future in agriculture & ideally some practical skills
