CCNB Action is a member-based, citizen's action group that creates awareness of environmental problems in the Province of New Brunswick, and advocates for their solutions through research and education. Founded in 1969, we believe that the future of all life depends upon bringing human activity in balance with ecological limits.

CCNB's campaigns to protect our air, land and water are run by a small, dedicated staff and a Board of Directors committed to those principles. . We are searching for an Executive Director to run the organization under the authority of the board.

The Executive Director is responsible for the administration of funding contracts and program planning; preparation of an annual budget and exercising financial control for all programs, hiring, evaluating, and supervising staff; and representing the organization to the government, media, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibility Areas:

1. Fundraising including; searching out opportunities for and preparing funding proposals and applications to support ongoing operations. Organizing fundraising events throughout the year, donor retention and donor contributions.
2. Membership development and services including; directing the implementation of a membership recruitment campaign and ensuring that annual targets are met.
3. Financial management including;
• Ensuring budget targets are met, both in fundraising and expenses; and initiating additional fundraising to address any shortfalls.
• Understanding the financial accounting system and working closely with the Office Manager to prepare monthly financial reports.
• Working with the Treasurer to prepare periodic financial reports to the Board of Directors and providing back-up information to the Treasurer on the details of the reports;
• Preparing an annual budget for operations, projects and administration.
• Ensuring the annual audit is completed in a timely manner and reporting required under federal and provincial laws, including the tax return, are submitted by deadlines.
4. Public outreach including; being an ambassador for CCNB Action through attending meetings and events, and making public presentations with staff and board to expand the public presence of CCNB throughout the province.
5. Staff supervision and coordination including;
• Participating in hiring, and supervising all staff.
• Ensuring a team atmosphere and approach is developed and maintained.
• Working closely with the Office Manager to ensure proper record-keeping, financial management, correspondence handling, and other daily tasks that are critical to the efficient and professional operations of the organization;
6. Board relations including; reporting to the board on the operations of the organization and advise on any policy or operations needs that the board must fulfill.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a record of good leadership, preferably as an Executive Director, an in-depth knowledge of the environmental movement, and believe in our goals. Enthusiasm and skill in fundraising; strategic management and planning skills evidenced by demonstrated accomplishments in communications, member relations, finance and program management are critical success factors. The most qualified applicants are stellar in their ability to build effective relationships with members, donors, and supporters; they proactively connect with people and enjoy forging consensus where views diverge. They are fluent in both English and French.
