Falls Brook Centre is looking for someone with a passion for sustainable communities to join their team as Executive Director. The successful candidate will oversee all operations and programs of the Centre, and ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of the local site as well as the programs running both on and off site. They will also oversee international operations and the relationships with various partner organisations, individuals and both public and private funders.

The Successful Candidate will be responsible to:
• Participate with the Board of Directors and work with the Operations Director in strategic planning and management of the entire organization
• Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of all departments
• Monitor the day-to-day delivery of programs and services to maintain or improve quality, and report all activities to the board
• Oversee international operations and the relationships with various partner organisations, individuals and both public and private funders
• Maintain and enhance working relationships and collaborative arrangements with partner groups and organisations locally and internationally
• Communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed of the work of FBC and identify changes in the communities served by the organization
• Manage and supervise all staff on site and internationally including:
• Organizing recruitment and placement of required staff, interns and volunteers
• Delegating tasks and accountabilities
• Establishing work schedules
• Monitoring and evaluating performance through regular evaluations and training
• Represent the organization at community, regional, provincial, national and international activities to enhance the organization's community profile
• Work with staff and the Board on project and organisational budgets, while providing regular reports on expenditures
• Work with the Board to secure adequate funding for the operation of the organisation
• Research funding sources:
• Write and edit grant proposals
• Maintain the Falls Brook Centre network of funders
• Investigate possible alternative income streams
• Participate in fundraising activities as appropriate
• Approve necessary expenditures
• Review financial statements and data

Education
• Post-secondary education in a related field (ie: Environmental Science, Forestry)

Qualifications
• 5 or more years of experience in local, national or international non-profit organisations
• 3 or more years program management experience
• 3 or more years financial management experience
• Experience fundraising and managing a large operating budget
• Experience managing a dynamic workforce
• Must be proficient with the use of computers for word processing, financial management and social media.
• Knowledge and experience with at least some Falls Brook Centre program areas:
• organic agriculture
• sustainable forestry
• renewable energy
• community development and
• environmental education
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the Central American and Caribbean context

Languages
• Fluent in English
• Some Spanish ability with a willingness to increase proficiency
• French is considered an asset

Salary

$35,000 to $50,000 annually
