Position: Programming & Communications Coordinator
Organization: The Loaded Ladle

Programming & Communications Coordinator

27 hours per week

Responsibilities:
• Communication:
• Act as the main point person for communications for the organization; answering general inquiries, emails, phone calls, and updating website, newsletter, and social media
• Update and distribute outreach materials, such as pamphlets, flyers, buttons, and stickers
• Meet with the Dalhousie Students’ Union executive and staff as needed
• Work with campus and community groups and individuals about support, logistics, and collaboration on the regular operations of the Loaded Ladle and various special projects
• Administrative duties:
• Assist the Board of Directors in running the organization
• Ensure permit renewals, memberships and certifications are up-to-date, including NS Cooperative Status, Food Safe Certification, Liability Insurance, and others
• Review and update policy
• Record keeping and management: compiling the Annual Report; record keeping throughout the year, and updating the Operations Manual
• Apply for grants
• Communicating and collaborating with Finance Coordinator on related duties
• Staff point person for various projects of the Board of Directors, such as the bursary program and educational projects
• Programming
• Plan and facilitate programming about food justice (such as the Radish Reads book club, To the Root conference and workshop series, and other events through the year)
• Participate in orientation week, society fairs, and other campus activities

Responsibilities of all Loaded Ladle Staff:
• Attending weekly open meetings and board meetings as needed
• Being welcoming, friendly, and supportive for all volunteers and staff in Loaded Ladle spaces
• Attending training: anti-oppression (annual), meeting facilitation (annual), Food Safe certification (as needed), and others, as needed
• Working as part of a co-operative in a non-hierarchical structure

Compensation: $18 per hour for 27 hours per week

We are dedicated to providing accessible, sustainable and locally sourced food by providing free meals on campus and by supporting off-campus events and groups who share our mandate for social and environmental justice. We aim to address injustices within the global food market, particularly in how it affects university campuses and marginalized communities under capitalism. We offer a local alternative to corporate food models, encouraging creative resistance and engaging in food justice knowledge and resource sharing.
