innovative new anti-racism training comes to the Maritimes at

/><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Tatamagouche Centre</st1:City>,
<st1:State w:st="on">Nova Scotia</st1:State></st1:place>. Traditional
anti-racism and anti-oppression work isn't getting us where we need to be.
Niyonu Spann is the Dean of Pendle Hill, a Quaker study and retreat centre near
<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Philadelphia</st1:City> <st1:State
w:st="on">Pa.</st1:State></st1:place>, who has developed a new vision of where
this work needs to be, grounded in the belief that transforming unjust
systems requires taking responsibility, shifting mindsets and building
skills. Through experiental activities, movement and media tools,
participants will: raise our consciousness of the dynamics of human
difference; develop necessary skills to recognize, acknowledge and deconstruct
systems based on separation and power-over; and explore how spirituality
influences this work. All this, grounded in a vision that is informed from

After registering for BD101, participants will receive the pre-work assignments
and a list of suggested items to bring to the workshop. Participants will
receive a Beyond Diversity Certificate upon the successful completing of the
