Mission Statement: ACORN is a non-profit organization that promotes organic agriculture by: Facilitating information exchange between and amongst organizations and individuals; Coordinating nonformal education for producers through to consumers; Networking with all interested parties both regionally and nationally.<br />
Job Description:<br />
<br />
The ACORN Office and Outreach Assistant will provide support to ACORN staff in managing the day-to-day office and activities of an organic hub in the Maritimes. The summer student will assist in member outreach (to ~400 Atlantic-wide member base), web updating and general office communications, and will be responsible for supporting advanced preparations for ACORN’s involvement in Organic Week.<br />

Specific tasks will include:<br />
• Assistance with office tasks, including web updates, phone calls and membership outreach;<br />
• Working with ACORN’s extensive online membership database to enhance member profile listings;<br />
• Boosting ACORN’s online presence by seeking out, tagging, and adding resources to ACORN’s online organic farm resource library;<br />
• Support with ACORN’s on-going projects, including CSA Network, Grow A Farmer Program, Seed Program, etc;<br />
• Outreach to retailers, restaurants and producers to coordinate Organic Week activities across the Maritimes.<br />
<br />
Qualifications:<br />
• Strong interest in organic food and agriculture<br />
• Excellent written and oral communication skills<br />
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team<br />
• Experience with Macs would be considered an asset<br />
<br />
Eligible Applicants must:<br />
• Have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.<br />
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred.<br />
• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.<br />
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada.<br />

Job details:<br />
<br />
32 hours/week at $12.00/hour for a 10-week contract with negotiable start date.**<br />
<br />
The successful candidate will work out of ACORN’s office in Sackville, NB.<br />
<br />
**Please note: Funding dependent, 2 positions may be available.<br />
