Remuneration: $15.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay and statutory benefits at 35 hours per week.<br />

Qualifications: <br />
<br />
Post-secondary diploma or bachelors degree in forestry, ecological sciences, biology, natural resources or 3 years related experience. The successful candidate will be required to use their personal vehicle for work travel and compensated according to the prevailing policy (approx. $0.42/km). Candidate must have experience working collaboratively on ecological restoration or forestry related projects/programs. Experience and/or knowledge in tree planting techniques, forest ecology, urban forestry, and landscape ecology will be considered strong assets. Technical writing and strong communications skills are mandatory.<br />

Job Description/Responsibilities:<br />

The Community Reforestation Project Leader works under the direction of the Program Manager in a supportive and cooperative team environment. The Community Reforestation Project Leader will be expected to complete duties directly related to the Growing Ecological Health in the Annapolis River Watershed project including site planning for urban, riparian and agricultural shelterbelt reforestation, tree species selection and planting stock acquisition, volunteer recruitment and coordination, field staff and volunteer supervision, completion of site planting, and documentation of the project in a final technical report.<br />

The Community Reforestation Project Leader is expected to conduct field work as needed in various weather conditions and field conditions using their personal vehicle (compensated according to CARP's travel policy). The Community Reforestation Project Leader will also be expected to spend time in the office entering data and conducting reporting requirements as directed by the Program Manager.<br />
<br />
Specific tasks can include:<br />
Lead CARP's Growing Ecological Health in the Annapolis River Watershed project including liaison with project partners, technical advisors, and volunteers.<br />
Identify appropriate sites for planting activities, and develop planting plans in consultation with technical advisors.<br />
Acquire appropriate native tree and shrub planting stock required.<br />
Engage community members and organizations to participate in tree planting on project sites.<br />
Coordinate volunteer planting events to complete site reforestation plans.<br />
Oversee and complete staff and contractor planting activities as required to complete the project.<br />
Participate in monthly staff meetings, quarterly Board meetings and prepare summary reports for the Board of Directors.<br />
Write reports for agricultural clients (client reports) and scientific report for CARP (final reports) and project partners.<br />
Other field work or office work as directed by CARP Management.<br />
