<br />
The GreenLearning Canada Foundation (GLCF) provides teachers with free, online education programs about energy and sustainability that empower students to create positive change for our evolving world. All programs meet provincial core curriculum for multiple grades and subjects.<br />
<br />
GLCF is seeking an Executive Director for a one year maternity leave to significantly increase and diversify its funding base enabling the organization to development more educational programs and engage more teachers across Canada with the goal of empowering a critical mass of young people who can ultimately lead and shift society to a secure, prosperous and sustainable energy future.<br />
<br />
The Position<br />
<br />
The Executive Director, located anywhere in Canada, will be a social entrepreneur and an organization builder with personal energy and skills to raise funds and to engage and lead both staff and volunteer team members. He/she will have experience and credentials in the fund development sector along with a solid grounding in the environmental and energy NGO sector.<br />
<br />
Detailed Job Description<br />
<br />
Fund development, including:<br />
• Work with the Board to implement fund development plan.<br />
• Ensure continued and sustained financial growth of the organization.<br />
• Diversity funding base to ensure long term sustainability of the organization.<br />
• Lead or participate in fundraising activities as appropriate.<br />
• Develop and sustain relationships with major donors.<br />
• Research funding sources.<br />
• Engage prospective funders and develop appropriate funder relationships, and write funding proposals.<br />
<br />
Develop strategic partnerships<br />
• Build and maintain partnerships with educators, school boards, Facilities of Education, Ministries of Education.<br />
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with other not-for-profit organizations, individuals and corporations in the for-profit sector, and governments.<br />
<br />
Financial planning and management, including:<br />
• Utilize approved policies and procedures to ensure financial management and controls for the organization, administer funds according to the approved budget, monitor monthly and quarterly cash flows and provide forward projections as required.<br />
• Ensure that the organization complies with all relevant legislation and regulations.<br />
<br />
Operational management, including:<br />
• Implement budget, and operational plan<br />
• Ensure that the operation of the organization meets the expectations of its educational clients, Board and Funders.<br />
• Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization.<br />
• Ensure the proper operation of the organization in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency regulations and requirements, particularly the receipt and recognition of charitable donations. Provide required reporting to CRA in a timely and complete manner.<br />
<br />
Human resources planning and management, including<br />
• Recruit, interview and select staff and contractors that have the right technical and personal abilities to help further the organization’s mission.<br />
<br />
Leadership and Board Support, including:<br />
• Work with the Board of Directors to implement annual strategic plan and budget.<br />
• Foster effective teamwork with, and among the Board, Staff and core contractors.<br />
• Identify, assess, and inform the Board of Directors of internal and external issues that affect the organization.<br />
• Provide the Board with accurate and timely financial and operational reports.<br />
<br />
Program Management, including:<br />
• Manage development and implementation of core programs, Sustainability Economics and Finance Education Program (SEFEP), Climate Change Where I Live (CCWIL), and Oil Sands Education Dialogue.<br />
• Manage contract workers including teacher writers, technical support (GreenIt), and marketing (Green Living).<br />
• Ensure that the programs and services offered by the organization contribute to the organization’s mission.<br />
• Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of the organization’s programs and services and participate actively in program delivery.<br />
• Monitor the day-to-day delivery of the programs and services of the organization to maintain or improve quality.<br />
• Provide appropriate monitoring and evaluation of the programs and services of the organization, ensure results are documented, and drive continuous improvement.<br />

Terms of Employment<br />
<br />
This is a one-year maternity leave replacement with potential to continue with the organization in some capacity after the initial year based on performance and financial health of the organization.<br />
<br />
Remuneration<br />
<br />
Remuneration will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the candidate and consist of base salary + bonus based on fund development performance.<br />
<br />
