Position: Assistant Counter Greenlaw Mountain Hawk Watch<br />
Organization: Nature NB<br />
Location: Charlotte County, New Brunswick<br />
<br />
The Saint John Naturalists Club and Nature NB seek to immediately enter into a contact arrangement with an experienced birder(s) to assist the Official Counter of the Greenlaw Mountain Hawk Watch from approximately September 1 to mid-October in the years 2016-2018.<br />
<br />
Duties include:<br />
Under the direction of the Official Counter, assist in the identification of sites to monitor raptor migration over the Fundy Isles<br />
Conduct counts of raptors in migration on days when migration is likely to occur<br />
Report observations to the Official Counter on a daily basis<br />
Interact with members of the public relative to the project.<br />
<br />
Requirements<br />
Significant birding experience<br />
Ability to differentiate between raptors and other species (e.g.: gulls). Preference will be given to applicants having some hawk watch experience and/or the ability to identify raptor species in flight<br />
Available seven days a week (days off determined by weather conditions) Note: Due to the late start of 2016 observations, part-time observer(s) will be considered<br />
Drivers license and motor vehicle, including liability insurance<br />
<br />
Remuneration and costs:<br />
Contract rate: $16.00/hour<br />
For a non-Charlotte County based individual: local motel or private rental accommodations<br />
Mileage @ $.39/km to and from home to the rental accommodations (on average, once a week) and to and from count sites<br />
