Sierra Club Atlantic is searching for a nature-loving individual to assist with the delivery and evaluation of our PEI Wild Child Program.<br />

This position is based in central Prince Edward Island.<br />

About this Position<br />
<br />
This is a Career Pathways Position, so you must meet these criteria to be eligible for this position:<br />
between 15 and 30 years old;<br />
Post-secondary graduate and lacking experience in field of study OR grade 12 graduate who has determined a career goal;<br />
Out of school;<br />
Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has refugee status;<br />
Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations; and<br />
Not in receipt of Employment Insurance benefits (upon approval/start date).<br />
<br />
Tasks and Responsibilities The PEI Wild Child Projects Coordinator will be responsible for delivering and administering the Sierra Club's PEI Wild Child program. Tasks will include:<br />
contacting local child care facilities, after school programs and camps to arrange visits,<br />
presenting the program to interested groups, including new Canadians,<br />
guiding children, caregivers and adults on nature excursions,<br />
using and developing activities that educate the participants on many aspects of their local environments including conservation & ecology,<br />
engaging with the public via social and traditional media,<br />
contributing to blogs and press releases,<br />
fundraising and contributing to reports to potential funders,<br />
developing relationships with community partners,<br />
helping to increase the reach of the program through promotion and networking,<br />
completing program evaluation (surveying staff and children),<br />
completing project reports and wrap-up,<br />
coordinating and communicating with Sierra Club Wild Child Program Supervisor in NS,<br />
collecting, organizing, and maintaining documents (such as agreements with childcare facilities/organizations, contracts, liability forms, photos, and photo releases),<br />
creating, and contributing to informational databases (with guidance),<br />
procuring and maintaining materials and equipment,<br />
travelling within PEI to child care centres.<br />
<br />
Applicants must have current First Aid Training and up-to-date Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen (completed within the last year).<br />
<br />
As with all Sierra Club staff, the PEI Wild Child Projects Coordinator will work closely with local volunteers, and communicate with our membership.<br />
<br />
Qualifications<br />
Post-secondary training in one or more of the following areas: Early Childhood Education, Environmental Studies, Ecology, Biology, Geography, Education, Public relations, Media/Journalism Studies<br />
good written and oral skills<br />
experience with fundraising an asset<br />
familiarity with web and social media<br />
ability to work with volunteers<br />
organizational and time management skills<br />
basic scientific knowledge about ecological cycles, natural history, and native species<br />
ability to adapt and deliver presentations to a variety of ages and knowledge levels<br />
regular access to a reliable vehicle<br />
love of nature is a must!<br />

Remuneration This is a full-time position, 32 hours per week. Pay rate is $16 / hour for 22 weeks; November 14 to<br />
April 14, with high possibility of extension.<br />
