The Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care (the Coalition) supports the Canadian health care sector to integrate environmentally responsible practices into the delivery of health care. The Coalition is a national membership-based not-for-profit organisation with membership representing over 40% of acute care beds across Canada. Our interests include: climate change resiliency, energy efficiency and conservation, water conservation, waste reduction, safer chemicals, environmentally preferable purchasing, healthy and sustainable food and green leadership. The Coalition is involved in several energy-related projects and requires the technical support of TWO Energy Analysts. One position (#1) will require advanced knowledge/experience with Microsoft Excel with the ability to write and maintain macros and advanced functions. The second position (#2) will require Excel proficiency.<br />

Duties of the intern: <br />
<br />
Working under the guidance of the Coalition's Executive Director, Communications Director and HealthCare Energy Leaders Ontario (HELO) Project Lead, the Intern will:<br />
• Use exceptional skills in Microsoft Excel to automate incoming survey data into an established format (Energy Analyst #1 only);<br />
• Assist in data collection and analysis related to energy consumption, trending related to weather fluctuation, equipment installation and hours of use;<br />
• Assist in writing reports and delivering information to health care facility operators and administrators;<br />
• Assist in business case development and delivery;<br />
• Work as part of a team to deliver on a number of fronts that relate to energy use, alternative system analysis, and GHG emission impact;<br />
<br />
Duties will be ongoing and tied directly to four Milestones:<br />
• Milestone 1 (Due January 8th, 2017): Complete final energy assessment reports for approximately 20+ Ontario health care facilities including many in remote northern First Nations communities. May include preparation of some applications for funding under the saveONenergy initiative of the IESO. <br />
• Milestone 2 (Due January 20, 2017): Complete automation of data survey and reporting program.<br />
• Milestone 3 (Due February 1, 2017): Complete draft development of two PowerPoint Slide decks for webinar on basics of energy assessment (walk-through) audits and energy retrofit funding opportunities for Ontario health care organisations.<br />
• Milestone 4 (Due March 31, 2017): Complete a business case for energy efficiency and conservation and assist in ongoing management and interpretation of energy data from a variety of energy-based Coalition initiatives.<br />
<br />
Eligible Youth Participants (Interns) who may be considered for an internship:<br />
• Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive);<br />
• A post-secondary graduate;<br />
• A Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or granted refugee status in Canada;<br />
• Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations;<br />
• A first-time participant in the Youth Employment Strategy (YES) program.<br />
<br />
The ideal applicant will have:<br />
• Advanced knowledge/experience with Microsoft Excel and be able to write and maintain macros and advanced functions (Energy Analyst #1 only); <br />
• Knowledge of energy conservation and environmental sustainability practices;<br />
• Have a passion for environmental stewardship and sustainability;<br />
• Experience with programming and/or website development and administration;<br />
• Knowledge of quantitative research and analysis methods;<br />
• Proficiency with standard office applications (Microsoft Office suite);<br />
• The ability to work efficiently both independently and within a team;<br />
• French and knowledge of Canada's health care system are a bonus but not necessity.<br />
