North River Kayak Tours (NRKT) will celebrate its 24th year in 2017 with an exciting new addition of three wilderness cabins. Located off the Cabot Trail in the community of St. Ann's Bay, NRK has operated kayak tours, special events and adventurous excursions for outdoor enthusiasts and visitors to Cape Breton Island with great passion. The creation of the River Nest Wilderness Cabins is a welcome addition to our rustic experience and adds a new and exciting element for our guests who are exploring this part of the Cabot trail. The role of the base manager is an important new role for North River Kayak Tours. The responsibilities will be based out of the shop central to both kayak tour operations and guest hospitality. The shop acts as the hub of communication; our location is incredibly beautiful and has very limited cell coverage. The right candidate will be the face of customer service in the shop, connecting those who seek adventure with our tours, packages and hospitality. They are the contact and guide for our enthusiastic new guests. We encourage our guests to bring their own linens but offer rentals and ready our cabins to a high standard prior to their arrival. Light to moderate housekeeping on a daily basis is another important responsibility to this role. Our practices and standard in this aspect especially are reflective of our commitment to the environment and eco-friendly products are provided.<br />
• Administrative tasks; booking tours, guests, relaying information<br />
• Customer service: check-in/out; all processes related to customers<br />
• Housekeeping: light to moderate daily tasks<br />
• Site maintenance & servicing<br />
• Tour prep both pre and post<br />
• Possibility of Assistant Guiding on busy days<br />

Accommodations & Wage:<br />
<br />
The chosen candidate will be invited to live on-site in the quiet and beautiful area of North River. Our kayak shop includes a space for guides suitable for those who enjoy a rustic lifestyle, and is located near many exciting locations to explore, such as Nova Scotia's tallest waterfall, North River Falls. Bath and toilet are located outdoors a short walk from your space. Cell reception is limited (1 bar) and WIFI is recently available. A landline is present on site. Located approximately 40 minutes off site is access to a co-op, gas station and other amenities in the village of Baddeck. Wage is To Be Discussed. 30-50 hours per week.<br />
