The New Brunswick Community Land Trust (NBCLT) is a small charitable organization that was founded in 1995 to hold working land conservation easements on properties of participating landowners. The NBCLT was created because its founders recognized the importance of sustainable agriculture and forest management to both maintain ecological integrity and rural livelihoods. They felt that offering trust mechanisms to limit unsustainable land use practices would ensure that rural land would remain available for production and continue to contribute to the local rural economy. The NBCLT currently holds easements on over 1000 ac of land in NB. More details about working land conservation easements and the NBCLT’s current activities can be found at nbclt.wordpress.com.<br />

Job Description<br />
<br />
The NBCLT would like to hire an entrepreneurial-minded Executive Director for a one-year term, renewable upon availability of funding and good performance. The Executive Director will be responsible for:<br />
• Developing and implementing a revenue model for the organization, in collaboration with the Board of Directors;<br />
• Delivering on the 2017 Strategic Plan objectives;<br />
• Hiring and managing technical staff;<br />
• Fundraising and reporting to funders; and,<br />
• Communicating with the public and partners.<br />
<br />
Essential Qualifications<br />
<br />
Candidates are required to have a minimum of 7 years of post-secondary education and/or experience, of which at least 2 years must be from an executive or management role, with the following focus:<br />
• budgeting and financial tracking;<br />
• strategic planning;<br />
• marketing and fundraising;<br />
• business development; and,<br />
• working in resource-based or environmental sectors.<br />

Candidates are required to be:<br />
• ambitious, goal-oriented, and mission-driven;<br />
• entrepreneurial-minded;<br />
• adept at speaking in public and writing clearly; and,<br />
• motivated to grow the organization’s impact.<br />

Beneficial Qualifications and Skills<br />
<br />
Exceptional candidates will also display the following:<br />
• multi-lingual capabilities; and,<br />
• experience running their own business, start-up, or organization.<br />

Work Location and Salary<br />
<br />
The ED will work from the NBCLT office in Sackville, NB. Remuneration is $35,000 – 45,000 CAN per year, based on qualifications, skills, and experience.<br />
