Job Description:<br />
<br />
The ACORN Project Assistant will provide vital support to ACORN's team for a range of educational events, including a series of farmer workshops that will be offered in the summer months, and the region’s annual participation in Organic Week.<br />
<br />
Specific tasks will include:<br />
• Assist with organizing event logistics (e.g. booking venues, coordinating registration, arranging food with procurement from local organic producers, etc)<br />
• Promote ACORN's events and activities through social media and outreach to like-minded organizations<br />
• Encourage participation in Organic Week by reaching out to retailers, restaurants and producers across the Maritimes and supporting their activities<br />
• Support with ACORN’s on-going projects and other event planning, including Atlantic Farmshare Network, Grow A Farmer Program, Seed Program, etc<br />
<br />
Qualifications:<br />
• Strong interest in organic food and agriculture<br />
• Excellent written and oral communication skills<br />
• Experience with various social and multimedia tools<br />
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team<br />
• Experience with Macs would be considered an asset<br />
<br />
Eligible Applicants must:<br />
• Have been registered as full-time student in the previous academic year and<br />
• intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.<br />
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred.<br />
• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.<br />
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada.<br />

Job details:<br />
<br />
37.5 hours/week at $12.50/hour for an 8-week contract with negotiable start date and possibility for an extension up to 10 weeks. The successful candidate will work out of ACORN’s office in Sackville, NB.<br />
