Indigenous Climate Action (ICA) is looking for someone with passion, who enjoys paving the way forward, and is committed to true Indigenous Climate Justice to serve as its Toolkit Coordinator/Researcher.<br />

ICA is a newly formed Indigenous-led initiative whose goal is to fill the gaps between the lived experiences of Indigenous Peoples and policies and strategies being developed to address climate change amplified by an Indigenous worldview. POSITION SUMMARY<br />
<br />
Indigenous Climate Action is seeking a skilled, motivated, and passionate Toolkit Coordinator to conduct research with Indigenous communities, develop, pilot, and deliver an ICA climate and environmental justice toolkit to interested Indigenous communities in Canada both in person and electronically. The Toolkit Coordinator works and reports to the Director.<br />

The position requires demonstrated competency in the following areas:<br />
Curriculum development<br />
Indigenous curriculum development processes and paradigms<br />
Verbal and written communications<br />
Research skills<br />
Interpersonal relations<br />
Coordination and time management skills<br />
Familiarity with Climate Justice and Indigenous Peoples<br />
Familiarity with Environmental Justice<br />
Work independently and remotely<br />
<br />
The Toolkit Coordinator duties are as follows:<br />
Construct a toolkit needs assessment for dissemination to Indigenous communities and nations for review and toolkit development guidance<br />
Research existing toolkits<br />
Build a toolkit framework<br />
Liaison with the Steering Committee and traditional knowledge keepers for toolkit development guidance<br />
Develop, pilot, and deliver an Indigenous climate and environmental justice toolkit<br />
Organize and attend regional gatherings to pilot and promote the toolkit<br />
Ensure the toolkit addresses an array of regional needs and necessary skills<br />
Extensive travel<br />
Work closely with the ICA director and report to the Steering Committee when required<br />
Other assigned duties<br />
<br />
Qualifications<br />
A Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction or a Bachelor of Education with equivalent experience<br />
2-5 years of proven curriculum development experience<br />
Knowledge and expertise in research methodologies<br />
Ability to travel extensively within Canada<br />
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision<br />
Experience working in Indigenous communities<br />
Proficient in multiple computer operating systems (Google Docs, Microsoft Suite, Pages, Keynote, Powerpoint, Excel, etc)<br />
Capacity to efficiently work as a team player<br />
Member of an Indigenous community and fluency in an Indigenous language an asset<br />
<br />
The position is full time 6 month contract position (possible extension) and entails a 37.5-hour work week. However, some evening and weekend work may be required. The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel extensively as well as to work hours required to meet ICA expectations. A Criminal Record Check along with Child and Adult Abuse Registry checks are required conditions of employment. ICA can assist with this process. <br />
<br />
SALARY: Pro rated $65,000 - 78,000 per annum ($2708 - $3250 bi-weekly)<br />
