Position: Catering Manager<br />
Organization: Pavia Gallery - Espresso Bar & Cafe<br />
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia<br />
<br />
Are you passionate about locally sourced food? Do you love organizing beautifully presented luncheons and cocktail events that use high quality ingredients? Are you ambitious and ready to be a part of one of Halifax's fastest growing catering companies?<br />
<br />
PAVIA is a very busy, high functioning, experience oriented Café in 4 locations with an exceptional and rapidly growing catering component. We believe strongly in using ethically and locally sourced ingredients wherever we can, including the use of free range eggs in all our baked goods and using locally sourced meats, vegetables and fruits. We bake everything from scratch including our bread and are in the process of switching over to fair trade organic sugar, cocoa and chocolate. In addition we are changing all of our paper/plastic cups etc to either biodegradable or compostable - with the goal of becoming a plastic free business. We are a zero food waste business composting all of our food waste from our cafes and kitchens and utilizing it in our 1000sq/ft of vegetable gardens.<br />
<br />
The Catering Manager is someone who has a deep passion for customer service and locally sourced food. You are a problem-solver with a strong work ethic. You understand that customer satisfaction and product education is key. You are organized and enjoy catering & special events.<br />
<br />
In particular, here are some of the specific expectations:<br />
Knowledge of both local and international varieties of alcohol (inventory/purchasing)<br />
Training & coaching other Catering Staff on superior customer services principles and practices<br />
Determining system improvements; implementing change to manage high growth<br />
Working with Head Chef to customize menu options to suit the needs of clients<br />
Help to foster a positive and memorable experience for customers<br />
During events, organizing the catering services to meet or exceed standards in food quality, safety, cleanliness, presentation and timeliness<br />
Interact daily with the PAVIA Ownership & General Manager<br />
An understanding for the principles of Fair Trade, Organic, Local and Sustainable and the ability to translate this into development of our business model and customer experience.<br />
