Position: Steering Committee Member<br />
Organization: Dalhousie Student Union Sustainability Office<br />
Location: Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia<br />

Please note, only applicants that are students of Dalhousie University can be considered for this position. Applicant must also be living in Halifax and able to be present at bi-weekly meetings from 4:30 - 5:30PM on Fridays.<br />

About the Organization <br />
<br />
The DSU Sustainability Office (DSUSO) was launched in 2007 due to demand from students. Since then, the Office has played an increasingly important role in improving, instilling and fostering sustainable operations and vision within the Union and beyond.<br />
<br />
The Dalhousie Student Union Sustainability Office (DSUSO) strives to create a culture of sustainability within DSU Operations and at Dalhousie University. They seek to improve our university community by making the DSU an ecologically aware, economically responsible, socially equitable institution. To encourage communication within the Dalhousie student community, DSUSO acts as a hub to identify, assess, and address challenges of environmental sustainability on campus.<br />

About the Role<br />
<br />
Steering Committee (S.C.) members act as guiding voices to the direction and focus of DSUSO. S.C. members are expected to attend biweekly meetings and some subcommittee meetings on subjects of their interest. S.C. members should be prepared to spend at least 5-7 hours per month in the role.<br />
<br />
S.C. members have the oportunity to pursue their own on and off campus sustainability interests. There are opportunities to work on food security, grants and project mentorship, events and workshop design, and many other things! This is a fantastic opporunity if you are looking to gain relevant organizing experience and are passionate about sustainability, and environmental and social justice.<br />
